LCA Fundamentals (ISO 14040/44)
A theory-first introduction to Life Cycle Assessment: goal and scope, inventory, impact assessment, and interpretation.
What This Programme Covers
Our flagship entry point into Life Cycle Assessment. Over two days we walk your team through the four phases defined by ISO 14040 and ISO 14044, using worked examples drawn from manufacturing, packaging, and construction.
The programme is deliberately theory-first. You leave able to read an LCA study critically, understand what its numbers do and do not claim, and brief a consultant with confidence.
No prior sustainability background is assumed. Delivered online for distributed teams, or on your premises for a single cohort.
What You'll Be Able to Do
- Explain the four ISO 14040/44 phases and how they interact
- Define a defensible goal, scope, and functional unit
- Distinguish attributional from consequential modelling
- Read an impact assessment table and interpret its uncertainty
- Recognise the most common methodological errors in published studies
